Application in Horticulture
Enhanced plant vigour and growth means:
Significantely Improved Crop Yields
and
Higher Transplantation Success Rate
With exception of brassicaceae (cabbage, broccoli, etc) all horticultural crops will form micorrhizae and benefit from them.
A well mycorrhized plant produces more flower buds, hence more fruits.
As better use is made of the available nutrients and water, significant cost savings will be achieved.
Horticultural crops have a short cycle, MYCOSYM® TRI-TON application should be made preferrably at the nursery level, mixing it with the substrate.
Summary of field trial results:
Various horticulture crops
MYCOSYM® TRI-TON application: manually into the planting hole, at transplant.
Melon in green house, Almería, Spain:
Application: MYCOSYM® TRI-TON mixed with seed tray substrate at 2% and 4% (vol/vol).
The application at seeding brings a significant yield improvement, as well as larger fruits in the top range calibre.
Lettuce open field, Guadalquivir Valley, Spain
Application: MYCOSYM® TRI-TON mixed with seed tray substrate at 2% (vol/vol)
This sensitive crop can be harvested earlier, thus reducing maintenance and disease concerns.
A word of caution:
The above results are achieved only if the establishment of the mycorrhizal symbiosis has been successful. In horticulture, this may not be the case in all circumstances. As some commercial varieties will have been selected for disease resistance traits, the inoculation with a mycorrhizal fungus may be inhibited.
In such case:
- Identify the variety being planted and the seed producer's claims for disease resistance.
- Use the highest recommended dose at the nursery stage.
